About me

I'm Kyle Jackson, and this is my college music production portfolio. I make beats and arrange tracks in two programs, FL Studio and Logic Pro, and most of what I make is inspired by hip-hop.

For this project I researched Black History Month and chose hip-hop as my genre. I looked at three artists who shaped it in different ways: Wu-Tang Clan, Lauryn Hill and Kanye West. I studied how their tracks were written, recorded and produced, the technology they used, and the history and communities behind them.

I then used what I learned to make my own hip-hop beat at 98 BPM, and I kept a diary of the sessions with screenshots of my work along the way.
